Measure the opening.
Check the clearance.
Opening width
Measure the clear opening from jamb to jamb. Record the width at the top, middle and bottom.
Opening height
Measure from the finished floor to the underside of the header. Note any uneven floor.
Side clearance
Record available space on both sides for the guides and mounting hardware.
Headroom & mounting surface
Record space above the opening and identify wood, steel or masonry. Check the selected model’s installation manual for required clearances.
